How many churches today have a heritage that goes back 150 years? Perhaps more importantly, how many churches from 150 years ago have survived until today?

Dobbins Memorial United Methodist Church is certainly not unique in that regard, but it is uncommon. And, it is a heritage of which to be proud.

On Friday evening Nov 4, 2005, well over 100 members and friends of our congregation celebrated a special anniversary banquet. It was an evening of good food, fellowship, and, most importantly, an evening of inspiration not only because of what the evening represented, and what we mean to one another, but through Pastor Elliott's thought provoking and inspiring message. It truly was a keynote for the next 150 years.

Our choir inspired us with an evening of old-time camp-meeting-style singing, in costume of the period, with special appearances by Billy Sunday, Fanny Crosby, Charles Spurgeon and others.

Our pastor and family received a well deserved surprise in the form of a $2,500.00 gift certificate to be used toward a family vacation to any destination of their choosing.

All in all, it was a great evening to be included in the family of God. And things aren't finished yet. Soon, we will be burying our time capsule full of gifts to a future generation at Dobbins who will be celebrating a 200-year anniversary in about 50 years.!
